Kumarghat is the age old cluster for production and trading of 30,000 MT bamboo stick in Tripura which is around 70% of India's requirement during the last 10 year. However, with change in technology and international trade regime, the focus of Indian incense sector shifted to round bamboo stick which is now mostly being imported from China and Vietnam. To support the growth of bamboo industries in the state, Tripura Bamboo Mission has set up its 2nd bamboo industrial cluster at Kumarghat. One Common Facility Centre (CFC) at this Bamboo Industrial Cluster is established support from Government of Tripura and it is "managed & operated" by Unokoti Agarbatti Stick Cooperative Society Ltd, promoted by TBM. The CFC is the biggest bamboo round stick manufacturing set up in India and the installed capacity is to produce 63 MT/shift of round bamboo stick per month. It is equipped with 51 round stick making machines along with other related processing machines for bamboo round stick production. More than 153 machines installed in seven industrial sheds spread over an are of 60,000 sft and total build up area of the bamboo industrial cluster is 29,000 sft. The CFC has the potential to engage more than 300 local people, mostly women. This CFC is catering to around six more bamboo round stick units in the Kumarghat cluster. The CFC is also trying to find innovative ways to utilize the bamboo waste being generated in the bamboo round stick units.
