A training program was organized by Tripura Bamboo Mission - IL & FS CDI (supported by NBM program) on nursery management, propagation and addition of bamboo in the state of Meghalaya

Training program was organized by TBM- IL&FS CDI from 11th to 14th January 2009, to make farmers aware about the nursery management, propagation and value addition of bamboo in the state of Meghalaya. Tripura Bamboo Mission – IL&FS CDI, Agartala office sent a team of 26 members from Bisalgarh, Dukli and Mandwi Agri – sub- division to the Meghalaya. The team visited bamboo nurseries, Agarbathi stick, and bamboo mat ply housing complex and bamboo plantation area of Meghalaya. The team also visited one agarbathi stick & mat stick industry MARBOH BAMBOO PRODUCT PVT. LTD. at Nongsder, RI-Bhoi District, Meghalaya. The manager of this industry Mr. Benjelio Marboh demonstrated all the working steps of Agarbathi stick & mat stick making.

They went to Umkhuti F.R.C Forest & Environment Department, Silviculture Division. They talked with Mr. H.R. Diengbah – Forest Ranger and Mr. C. Syiem – Forester – 1, they explained about their objectives and activities related this nursery. Mr. B Rana – Gardener of this nursery demonstrated how to prepared Nursery Bed, Propagation techniques of bamboo, Watering and use of Fertilizer. The team lastly visited a mat ply housing complex which was newly started in NEHU Central University at Shillong.
